Blast from the Past Headshot

I did a bunch of these in my late teens. I’ve always wanted to start them back up again. They are very 80s, which of course is when I did them.

Chihuahua from Hell

I submitted this drawing right before I went back to school. I submitted it for a job, but, sadly, I didn’t get the work. More inspiration to start Graphic Design school.

New Scene Illustration for The Pumpkin and the Mouse Jinn

Very excited to have finished the illustrations for the second scene in The Pumpkin and the Mouse Jinn. It’s a children’s book that I started 3 years ago when I was still attending graphic design school. This is an illustration for the new book. I had originally done the book in digital watercolors. I love these flat vector images even more. Here, the pumpkin finds himself in a dark truck, on the way to market after his first wish. The tricky mouse jinn is ready to grant his next wish. This book will be for sale sometime mid September.

Car Wash Illustration from 52 Weeks of Victorious Aging

Here’s another illustrations I did for Dr. Martha’s 52 Weeks of Victorious Aging: Tips to Ensure a Happy and Healthy Year at Any Age by Dr. Martha Lucas. This one was A LOT of fun to do, especially the bubbles for some odd reason. Here’s a little more about the book. “You Can Start This on Any Day or Week in the Year. There are no dates in this book. Most of us don’t need another complicated thing to do each day, let alone try to remember to read every day. Once a week is perfect! You choose. Set an alarm or reminder to start the week, read a tip midweek, or end your week on a high note with a weekly tip.”

Death of Medusa

This is another school project for deconstruction. This is of Medusa who looks at herself in the mirror. I love geometric patterns, so this seemed appropriate for the assignment.

My Monogram

I did this for my Typography class. We had to do something artistic and repeatable with our initials. This actually looks pretty dang cool on products like bags and t-shirts.

News: The Pumpkin and the Mouse Jinn

Thought I’d share some news about my first children’s book. I wrote this story a long time ago as flash fiction for adults, but while in an illustration class, I decided to revise it for kids. Here’s one of the illustrations for early in the book I recently finished. My plan is to publish the book before Halloween. This is when the mouse jinn grants the pumpkin’s first wish to leave the pumpkin patch. I’ll share more illustrations as the book progresses. BTW, this will be the first book I publish under my real name, Wendy Spurlin.
