Here’s another illustrations I did for Dr. Martha’s 52 Weeks of Victorious Aging: Tips to Ensure a Happy and Healthy Year at Any Age by Dr. Martha Lucas. This one was A LOT of fun to do, especially the bubbles for some odd reason. Here’s a little more about the book. “You Can Start This on Any Day or Week in the Year. There are no dates in this book. Most of us don’t need another complicated thing to do each day, let alone try to remember to read every day. Once a week is perfect! You choose. Set an alarm or reminder to start the week, read a tip midweek, or end your week on a high note with a weekly tip.”
Artwork
Death of Medusa
This is another school project for deconstruction. This is of Medusa who looks at herself in the mirror. I love geometric patterns, so this seemed appropriate for the assignment.
My Monogram
I did this for my Typography class. We had to do something artistic and repeatable with our initials. This actually looks pretty dang cool on products like bags and t-shirts.
News: The Pumpkin and the Mouse Jinn
Thought I’d share some news about my first children’s book. I wrote this story a long time ago as flash fiction for adults, but while in an illustration class, I decided to revise it for kids. Here’s one of the illustrations for early in the book I recently finished. My plan is to publish the book before Halloween. This is when the mouse jinn grants the pumpkin’s first wish to leave the pumpkin patch. I’ll share more illustrations as the book progresses. BTW, this will be the first book I publish under my real name, Wendy Spurlin.
Sun Illustration from 52 Weeks of Victorious Aging
Here’s one of the illustrations I did for Dr. Martha’s 52 Weeks of Victorious Aging: Tips to Ensure a Happy and Healthy Year at Any Age by Dr. Martha Lucas. All of the illustrations are digital and done similar to the one below. You should consider getting the book. It’s short but filled with great advice to stay young and healthy. “Dr. Martha provides 52 health and happiness actions that you can realistically incorporate into your life. Each tip is designed to create a healthier you as you advance in years. No one is too young to start. And you only have to accomplish one tip a week.” Plus, I published it!
