This is an abstract of a wine and cheese platter from above. Again, this is a school assignment from the early 2000s.
Artwork
Just a Little Confused
I’ve done a series of line drawings of people over the years and this is one of my favorites.
Ninja Warriors
This is a piece I did recently while creating collages with my granddaughters. The two pluses are the ninja warriors and the other section is the judge that looks like an owl to me.
Remembering Howie the Beagle
This is one of our beagles who sadly passed away a number of years ago. I used a picture of him for a poster assignment for my Adobe Illustrator class.
Another Hilma af Klint Inspired Painting
This is a tiny painting, measuring 4″ x 4″ in size.
Bauhaus Shape Crazy
This is a more current piece I did in my art history class. We were studying art movements of the early 20th century. I originally created this with construction paper. Later I recreated it in Adobe Fresco.
Fun with Penguins
Another one from my archive. Did this at least 30 years ago. Penguins are soooo cool!!
More Blast from the Past Headshots
Here are some more line drawings with a splash of color I did many years ago.
This second one was done first with her 80s hat. I just got an idea to digitize these. Hmmmm…
Heaven & Hell
Here’s a AI generated landscape scene I generated recently for my Mean Winnie Jean Instagram account. Since the whole theme is anything horror, and I need images that promote my Angels Dark and Dumb series, this is supposed to represent Heaven & Hell. Such a fun exercise because this has me so motivated to copy it in a painting. Poor AI gets a bad wrap in art, but during this session I realized that what I generate can really inspire me in my old school art. You can teach an old dog new tricks!
Hilma af Klint Inspired Circles and Flowers
This is one of my most recent Hilma af Klint inspired paintings. I love the color choice in this one. I keep saying I’m going to quit doing these, but I keep on painting ’em. This one was challenging with the circles. Took me forever to figure out what to do because it looked really empty without the light blue background and the pink circles. Anyway, I like the way it turned out.
Hanging Around
One of my abstract line drawings of a random guy hanging around.
1144-3360-0211 Collage
I did this in less than 10 minutes in an art history class. The teacher threw a bunch of junk on the table and told us to make a collage. I still love it every time I look at it. Sometimes artwork just happens.
Halloween Begins at Wendy Spurlin Designs
As far as I’m concerned, Halloween season begins September 1st, but I’m off to a bit of a slow start. Here’s my first Halloween monster of the season, featuring candy corn, a treat so many people despise. Except me! I love it! Anyway, why not turn it into a monster?
Last year’s monsters were my Women of Horror Series, none of which I’ve posted here. They are on my alter ego sight at winniejeanhoward.com under Artwork > Ladies of Horror if you’d like to view them. This year I’ll be doing kid friendly monsters that I’ll post here as I complete them. Enjoy!
The Pumpkin and the Mouse Jinn’s Book Cover
WOW! Everything is ready to publish the book mid month. For once I’m early finishing a project. Here’s the cover. I decided to go with a purple background because a lot of the Halloween books on Amazon had either a dark blue or purple background. Tomorrow I’ll get the book up for pre-sale.
Yummy Pumpkin Pie in the Final Illustration for The Pumpkin and the Mouse Jinn
Here’s the final illustration for The Pumpkin and the Mouse Jinn. YAY! Turned out SO CUTE! All the illustrations are done. And the book is almost edited. I’ve decided to do a final edit to make it appropriate for young readers, and I plan to do it with ChatGPT. On to the book cover.
Positive and Negative
Another old school project. One looks like lips to me, and a 5. The bottom right reminds me of Batman.
